The axolotls of Lotl Luxuries (Not all of our axolotls are featured here)

Cricket is a dirty leucistic axolotl bred by Happy Axolotls out of Pennsylvania. He is my BIGGEST boy. Less than a year old and already a whopping 11 inches! Cricket is in a 90 gallon tank that has two 180 gallon rated sponge filters and a sump filtration system. Some of the filters we sell at Lotl Luxuries also are running in Cricket’s tank to maintain a beneficial bacteria cycle.

Colby Jack is our golden albino from West Florida Axolotls and Exotics. He is extremely spoiled and seldom goes in his hides. He wants to see everything going on around him. He demands his worms be hand-fed to him. If you look closely, his gills (floofs) are much shorter on the left hand side. We are not sure why, but it is super cute and gives him even more character. Currently, Colby Jack lives in a 40 gallon breeder tank with 3 guppies and several ghost shrimp who he has deemed friends, not food. Colby Jack got his name from a 6 year old in the family who said he looks like a slice of Colby Jack cheese. The iridophores (white glittery spots) against his golden yellow body do make him look like everyone’s favorite cheese!

Bugsy is a speckled leucistic purchased from Rocky Mountain Axolotls. Bugsy is currently tubbed in a dark colored tub to encourage her “freckles” to darken. Bugsy is eating cut up Red Wigglers, salmon pellets, and Blackworms from Eastern Aquatics.

Nebula is a GFP Hypomelanistic Copper from Tina’s Happy Axolotls. Nebula resides in a 39 gallon bowfront aquarium with a few ghost shrimp friends. Once gender can be determined, he/she will be moved into a bigger tank with a friend or two. Nebula loves to watch her humans as they walk by and has become very skilled at begging for worms. Isn’t Nebula stunning?

Neptune is a GFP Melanoid from Gillywater Aquatics. This baby is in a 60 gallon breeder tank by itself until we can determine gender. WIth beautiful glowing green eyes and a blue hue to it’s body, who can resist giving him a wormie when he comes to the side of the aquarium. I love watching this little one grow.

Tater is our female GFP Copper from MOD Aquatics. She is the sweetest girl. Tater really loves Hykari Carnivore Pellets in addition to her regular diet of European Crawlers. Tater is in a 55 gallon tank by herself. Right now, she is our only gendered girl. I am hoping to find another girl tank mate to provide her with a friend. Tater has beautiful long fluffy gills, which we attribute to using Holfretters Salt Solution in her tank. This girl battled fungus several times until we began using the solution at the recommendation of a breeder. She is doing wonderfully now and just look at those beautiful floofs!

Pickles was rescued from a pet store where he was housed in a 10 gallon tank with about 12 other axolotls of various sizes, cory cats and angel fish. This baby is missing his two front legs. Unfortunately, the other axolotls and/or the fish nipped the legs off. It will be a long road ahead, but we are hopeful his limbs will regenerate. Pickles is a wild type axolotl.

Pluto was rescued a few hours later than Pickles. We had to drive back to the pet store and save him too. Pluto is missing one arm and has nips out of his tail. Like Pickles, we are hoping he will make a full recovery with love and proper care. We still are not sure of the exact morph, but it seems he may be a light melanoid.
